I just had a long conversation with another coach who was driving (don’t tell the authorities) to body psychotherapy. Much like EFT and Shake Therapy – this is a primal way of locating and feeling your feelings. Your body has wisdom way beyond your mind, she tells me. I’ve so long been intelligent, funny, clever, quick witted and FAT that I’ve worshipped at the alter of the mind for the obvious rewards. But now I’d like to think that my body is on my side. I’m not waging war against it.
I’m interested in shake therapy – as Martha Beck described it in our retreat – you take certain extreme yoga poses until you can cause a shake. Once the shake begins, you lean into it and let it quake. You can feel great relief of your pent up pain, shame, anger and guilt.
Shake it off… like a group of ducks who recently squabbled over a tossed piece of bread, s-h-a-k-e, and then settle back down.
